If you test your movie you will now see that the sphere is following the path. If you want the animation to be smoother just add more length to the motion tween (60 frames for example) and raise the frame rate to 24 (fig9)

You can see the final animation below

Orienting a movie clip along a path

Now let's say we have a movie clip representing a car or an insect, if we replace the red sphere with a one of those we will notice that the animation doesn't look very realistic. I have added a blue dot in the sphere movie clip to simulate the head of a little insect :) Have a look at the animation below, doesn't look great does it ?

Our insect is coming down along the path but doesn't rotate accordingly to the path. Well it's very easy to change that :

1. Select the first frame of the motion tween layer (not on the guide layer)
2. On the property tab of the frame check
Orient to path (fig1)

orient to path fig1

Test your animation and you will notice with satisfaction that our movie clip now behave like we want it to, the little insect rotate in relation with the path :)

Good luck :)
